Spring BreakI had intended on reading the chapters and articles I was behind. Reading the book I won in the contest, and the book for my final project. What'd I get done while I was home? I read the book I won. That's it. Not that I didn't have fun, I did. I had dinner multiple times with my grandmother, got to spend time with (and get music from) my cousin/twin CJ, play video games with my brother (as well as watching him play), had a pampering day and a day in the city (NYC, that is). Pampering day was fun. I got a massage (so fantastic), which was my birthday present from my grandma, then I got a manicure--in Absolutely Alice , which is golder than it's portrayed in the photo (it all depends on lighting), then I got my hair cut, but--sadly--not colored. I'm hoping to get my hair dyed purple before the summer. Only the tips, and only some...which, I won't lie, I'm concerned about how it'll look, but oh well, I've been wanting this since I bought that faux hair scrunchy (dark curly hair with straight purple pieces) from the dollar store in seventh grade. My dad broke it and PROMISED that he would let me die my hair purple one day. I decided that day was last Tuesday but apparently the world (aka the hair dresser) wasn't ready for that yet. So in May. I hope. I did get my hair cut short again. I think it's shorter than it has been in a while, so I'm happy. Then Wednesday was my day in NYC. Kevin and I woke up super early, drove to NJ, caught the train from there to NYC, then we walked (many many blocks) to the Museum of Modern Art, where we went to the Tim Burton exhibit, then to the ridiculously expensive lunch at Planet Hollywood, and then we went to our show (A Little Night Music)--which was just...fantastic. Catherine Zeta Jones was pretty good, and Angela Lansbury was just...fantastic. I feel so lucky to have been able to see her. The show had just...this great biting wit, especially in the character of the countess and just goofiness thanks to Henrick and Anne. I was really surprised by how much I liked it considering I had NO clue what it was about--just that it was a Stephen Sondheim show. But, considering my love for all things Sondheim, it wasn't too surprising. Then we managed to catch an early train home and--for some reason--didn't have to pay the extra money because we had purchased off-peak tickets. Then I went home and had something to eat and was stood up by my friend for the millionth time--not really, but we had casual-ish plans for more nights of my break than not almost. Then Thursday was a general shopping day, and Friday was a last minute errand day. We left super late. Got into NY, then went to Outback for dinner. Which was just...a bad experience for several reasons. Then stayed up watching Criminal Minds, next was sleep before waking up at 6 to drive Kevin to UAlbany for his interview. I felt bad because I cried on him in his nice suit, but I got better and had breakfast at IHOP alone, then sat in B&N and read articles for my paper. I also got a replacement windshield wiper because a) I was having problems with my last one as it kept popping off and b) Kev had put it on backwards last time and I lost it in a windshield wiping incident. I also bought little baby chocolate bunnies. Anyway, now I'm watching Kevin play Heavy Rain. |
