I kind of want to see water hitting an iris at "only" 21,000 fps now. Also nice use of "ever. So far"

I hate to be that guy but if you heat an object up (causing expansion) and then rapidly cool (causing contraction) it would be imploding not exploding.

You can get borosilicate Pyrex here in the states, it's just harder to find, since all the factories here have switched to soda-lime. The only company exporting it to here is Arc International (French), which you can distinguish by the uppercase, bold white PYREX in a red oval. The lowercase one that you see everywhere is from World Kitchen, a US company that only does soda-lime, and capital one in red is from Corning (ironically the firm that developed Pyrex) which sells boro in Europe but soda-lime here.

For some reason, it really bothered me that that back corner of Gav's house was jutting out from the foundation and didn't have any support under it lol

I assume there's something up with the ground in that area, there's a line of dead grass exactly where the foundation ends.

The Corning Museum of Glass is a pretty cool place to visit. I've been there a few times. My dad's side of the family grew up in Corning/Elmira.

I really want to visit Corning sometime, I've seen a bunch of their glassblowing seminars. Watching masters work on a single piece for an hour, uncut, is really relaxing and impressive.

That's just insane! My head hurts trying to think about how fast the glass breaking really is.

    • zechio FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

It probably isn't as fast as you think. It's in bullet territory for sure, but not fast ones. It's about 2500 ft per second.

That's roughly around 3300 MPH, while the ISS is over 17,500 MPH. Then, New Horizons is about twice that! So, in the time that glass shattering traveled about 3 inches, New Horizons would have made it over 5.5 feet!

Finally...light would have managed nearly 20 MILES in that time.
