Wow I live in Canada (Ottawa) and someone at my school sells drinks to students. Today he was walking around and he's telling everyonethat he has a new drink called "Talking Rain"!!!
So I show him the logo and he says that that is the company logo! So it turns out that you can find talking rain at Microsoft and at a costco in Ottawa!!! :-D

Comment on 3D movies..."Up" had the best 3D that I had ever scene in a movie (previous was Superman) but it wasn't a very good story imo. Avatar is a good movie to begin with and the 3D put it over the top. However I think a large chunk of its success is that people want to see it in 3D so they have to go to the theater. This is also true overseas so even in China where it has been available for $1 on DVD they are paying $12 each to see it in 3D. New movies won't have this advantage once the pirates figure out how to watch movies in 3D at home.

I bet Avatar for 3D will be available at Christmas, probably bundled with 3D TV's.

This is unrelated to this episode, but in episode 33 Gus asked if you stacked every AoL disk on top of eachother, how high would they go? I calculated it out, and it is about 895 miles high.

Technically it isn't a jet pack. it's more of a personal helicopter thingy. but i guess if it looks like a jet pack, quacks like a jet pack, makes you look badass and fly around, it's pretty much a jet pack minus the flames.

    In reply to ciberw0lf, #104:

Thanks ciberw0lf - exactly right: 3-D without glasses; totally plausible but complicated.

Think of it as many vertical image slices - people receive pairs of images one into each eye but the display system is generating tens-hundreds of images each from a slightly different viewpoint.

Current big deal is that the "audience area" (the number of seats) that get a high-quality image is only 2x3 seats but this was still pretty early day stuff.

    Autostereo display stuff

    Great Show guys.

Guess no one played Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, you actually play the part where Riddick gets his eye's shined. It was a sleeper hit for the original xbox

Also, there is such thing as glassesless 3-D technology: No-glasses 3-D They have been able to do it for a few years now, just nothing with the clarity needed. I'm pretty sure 3-D movies are here to stay, so as more money is poured into the processes, the technology will improve.

Re: Comics and Movies - what you normally see with regards to this is:

    1) before the movie comes out, all the characters have either an ongoing series or a mini released or revamped. ie: Iron Man is being revamped right now, and the Black Widow mini-series just started.

    2) after the movie is released, you almost immediately see changes to the comics to make them more like the movie (to attract the movie viewers)

    ie: Lady Deathstrike pre-X2:
    Lady_Deathstrike_Oyama.jpg

    Lady Deathstrike in X2:
    lady-deathstrike.jpg

    Lady Deathstrike post-X2:
    242871-149521-lady-deathstrike_large.jpg

You don't often (to my knowledge) have comic writers creating a book with the intent to turn it into a movie (except maybe Kick-Ass...I don't know how that one worked...), but you'll always have movie writers turning the movie into a comic - ie: TF2 official comic prequel and TF2 official comic adaptation were out before the movie was out. I read the comic before most of my friends had seen the movie.

Zilla: not even most comics today are like you describe. There was a period in the mid-late 90s that was quite like that, but not now. In fact, I think that comic book writing is the best that it's been in a long time. But one comment on something you said - with regards to characters coming back to life, this does still happen, and I guarantee you that it will be about 7-12 years after the character died and/or mysteriously disappeared. They often bring them back for copyright renewal purposes, not to say that that's a good excuse for resurrecting a character. Characters that have been brought back into the spotlight recently, off the top of my head, are the Agents of Atlas, Darkhawk, Deathlok, Nova, Adam Warlock, Union Jack, Black Knight, and the New Warriors. Most of whom haven't been seen since the late 90s. (right on time, eh?)

PS: I have about 7000 comics (single issues), give or take. You know those long comic book boxes? I have about 25 of those full.

podcast 53 is a great podcast the extra half hour really made my day knowing ho wmuch more there was to listen to, however...and it is only a small quam could we have some theme songs that are not simply a selection of podcasts but to an annoying "beat bed" as the burnster would put it, could i possibly get an acoustic guitar rythm blanket for my beat bed because the intro theme style is a bit cold as it is.

In the UK the government conduct a census of the population and take data such as age, gender, nationality and religion. In the 2001 Census a such large amount of people declared their religion as Jedi that it was made an official religion.
