I am a cattle rancher and Cow tipping is not actually a thing.  It is an urban... or rather Rural Myth.

Try walking up to a CALM Nice cow that will let you get close to them and push.  They will ether stand there and look at you or move to the side and then go back to eating grass.

(Note I said calm nice cow  some cows are MEAN or Frightened of you and if you walk up to them they will toss their head in the air and attack you.   They can head butt you into the air and then bash you with their head and step on you while you are flat on the ground in pain.  So, don't go near a cow without supervision of someone who actually works with cattle.  A full grown cow can weigh 1,300lbs to 2000lbs or more depending on breed.  So please don't get near something that weighs close to or over a TON without knowing what you are getting into.  Or you could DIE.)

If someone wants to take you cow tipping they are ether pulling your leg or are as uniformed as you use to be.

Just listening to the ending of the podcast here and holy fuck do people get butt hurt. They're really good friends, they work in the same company together and they have a blast. They're super close and comfortable with each other so of course they'll make some jokes/banter. It's time for people to stop getting so pissy over something so OBVIOUSLY a joke. If you even used 2% of your brain cells, you'd realize that. Sad to see that such a portion of this community get so riled up by this that it was actually brought up to attention. I expected a more mature kind of thinking from the general Rooster Teeth audience. ESPECIALLY the Podcast audience.

I precursor this by saying that I personally understood what they were saying was not intended to harm anyone. That said, it is very fair for people to have a reaction to what was the given information. Insulting the section of the audience that feels this way and had concern about what is a common issue in today's society is an ignorant reaction. Bethany and Burnie, clearly seeing the harm, handled this well and rightfully. It is not your place to further belittle those who they were addressing by insulting their intelligence, maturity, and observations.

Thank you to everyone in the RT community that fights for what they believe is right through their freedom of expression.

I realize this is old at this point, but I thought it important to comment on this video. I volunteer with a high school robotics team. When we first founded the team, we sat down and wrote our educational goals. Our number one goal was to teach our students to be better employees and better people. After this issue with Patrick and the vehement response to Burnie's apology, I reflected on the message that Rooster Teeth sends to its audience, which tends to skew young. I realized that there were countless stories I have issues with; Geoff probing Gavin in the anus, countless stories of workplace drunkenness, Achievement Hunter destroying their office. I realized that the actions of Rooster Teeth are in direct contrast to what I am trying to accomplish through volunteering. I canceled my First membership and unsubscribed from the Youtube channel. Even though I have enjoyed Rooster Teeth's content for years, I have to live the values that I preach and stop giving money to organizations that go against my goals.

I fell asleep listening to this podcast (as I do a lot of them) and I missed the apology at the end but I'm glad it was said. There's a big thing within queer communities where gay men will feel up and inappropriately touch women and then turn around like "oh it's okay because I'm gay!" but it's not because it's still men feeling obligated to touching women without their consent, regardless of whether it's for sexual reasons or not. The way the story was told did make it seem like that's the case, so this clarification and apology is super important and I'm thankful Rooster Teeth cares to make the apology (which is such a low bar to keep them at but everyone else trips over it).

Im all for admitting a mistake, being open about when you are wrongis a crucial part of the human experience, but, what happened to the burnie who said "We cant talk about something, that someone else could then infer from that and apply to a different part of their life and therefore be offended by it"? Nothing was intended to be offensive and from everything that these people have talked about, who are we really afraid of? What so bethany is gonna say one thing and suddenly the veil is lifted? the wool pulled over our eyes and BAM shes actually a sexual predator from what she said in confidence of friends as a side comment? If you are offended by what happened you need to think about your own life and why you wont let one person make a snarky joke to a friend in a safe place. No sympathy for the offended parties on this account. I KNOW roosterteeth as does most of this fanbase and we know they are better than that. Dont try to paint them as criminals or liars when they havent done anything wrong.

In this day and age, I feel that people getting butt hurt over everything is a sad thing. Everyone is a keyboard warrior anymore and look for things to be angry about.

Its about context in regards to these things. I feel bad for people have to apologize to someone who is offended for someone else.

But I completely appreciate Burnie covering his ass and his employee's ass in this apology. That's the kind of boss that understood what was being said and in the context it was be said and was able to translate.

The failed apartment complex that's covered in graffiti that they were talking about is Graffiti Park or Castle Hill. It's really an awesome place to check out. You'll see entirely different murals every few days. Highly recommended tourist trap.

I really thought that apology was excellent, I noticed that the conversation was worded badly at the time and it didn't bother me but i was aware that it should've been discussed differently. I love that they aren't afraid of bringing it up to apologise completely. Burnie did an excellent job on this podcast as did Bethany in her apology. So much respect for them both

Totally agreed. It was both genuine and professional. I realize the enormous amount of pressure that comes with doing a live show-- a lot of the time these guys are so focused on being entertaining off the cuff that they don't think their words through. But apologizing for the mistake shows a lot of maturity, as well as compassion for any viewers affected by the statements.

You guys have to stop putting Brandon in front of a camera. I'm only 30 seconds into the podcast and Brandon's "SUNLIGHT IS BAD FOR YOU" theory has already caused me to get dumber. He might have a valid point but he has no idea how to put his argument in any sort of context and then when someone points out how DUMB his points are, he just doubles-down on them. If I wanted to see behavior like that I'd join the GOP.

Metric conspiracy theory? Must be a Texas thing to assume everything is a conspiracy.  There was a big push for metric in the 70s and early 80s  but Reagan pretty much killed that movement (along with clean energy and other pro-science things) for his 'Merica! base.

But remember that soda isn't sold in quarts, it's sold in liters.  When have you ever bought a 2-Quart of soda?  And the reason is simple, those plastic bottles (2-Liter) came into existence during the big push of metric.   For cans, people still say ounces because those have been around since the 30s.   You can see the same thing in audio and video formats.  The first formats that came about in the 60s were 1/2 and 1/4 inch tape.  Same thing with floppies (yes, they've been around since the early 70s).  But newer formats that came about in the early 80s- like 8mm tape and 12cm compact discs- all metric.

Yeah i agree and it shows his professionalism as a leader of the company. But honestly it doesn't matter if the guy was gay or not. When he puts his hands on a woman (or man) like that and they feel uncomfortable about it, that's sexual harassment. Just because some of the people were OK with it doesn't make it OK to do it to everyone. And I know he was drunk and that he felt bad about it later, but it's still messed up and he should not drink that much if he can't handle his booze. Now that being said, Geoff forcefully puts his fingers up Gavin's asshole alot without his consent. Sometimes on a daily basis lol.

Around 21:00 Max mentioned wondering why people don't use parasols to protect themselves from the sun. You should check out Kyoto. People carry them all the time here (or just use a regular umbrella in the sun), but it's only ever women. I never see men using umbrellas to protect themselves from the sun. That said, I'd say the age breakdown of the women I see with them are like 20% under 30ish, 20% 30ish-40ish, and 60% over 40. Older women also tend to were a lot of big sun shading hats if they don't have a parasol/umbrella.

    • sakurastar FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

I was thinking the same thing! They do it in most areas of Japan that I've seen and it's mostly older women. I was living in the Kanagawa district and a lot of older women would have parasols or big sun hats and also long gloves. But I don't think that's purely to avoid the sun for health reasons as a lot of my students (a lot of which were middle aged women) told me it was so they could stay pale as that is seen as traditionally prettier there, (particularly to the older generation). Which would make sense since there's a lot of skin whitening products in Japan too.

I feel like parasols have partly died out now because tanning became so popular. Obviously, most people know better than to stay out in the sun too long now or use tanning beds too much and they've switched to spray tans etc.  to achieve the same look. However having a tanned complexion and not being 'too pale' is still very much in fashion I think, I still get comments about being too pale anyway!

I don't really think there's much of a need to apologise. It was obviously a joke, and anyone who took it too seriously is watching the wrong podcast. It's not RT's fault people misinterpret things, the audience does it all the time. There have been worse jokes made before (mostly AH, but y'know) and I never saw an apology for them.

I thought nothing of the story when I listened to last week's episode. It was clearly friends being silly.
